The purpose of the CSCS course is to train & access the participants on Signing, Lighting & Guarding at Roadworks as specified in

  • Chapter 8 of The Traffic Signs Manual
  • Guidance for the Control & Management of Traffic at Roadworks

And in accordance with the relevant Legislation

Day 1

  • Introduction to Traffic Management
  • Roadworks Classifications
  • Traffic Management Devices
  • Traffic Management Layouts
  • Traffic Management Applications

Day 2

  • Multiple Choice Exam
  • Motorways / Dual Carriageways
  • Classroom Practical
  • Safe Systems of Installation
  • Site Practical

Day 3

  • Site Practical Exam
  • Classroom Practical Exam

At the end of the course you will be able to

    • List the relevant Legislation
    • Describe signs & devices used on roadworks
    • Describe static and semi-static operations
    • List the requirements for the installation of Traffic Management
    • Read and describe the traffic layouts set out in "Chapter 8" & Guidance for the Control and Management of Traffic at Roadworks
    • Install, maintain & remove signs & devices used on roadworks
    • Create and maintain site records
