O'Flynn Safety - Traffic Management Plans

Traffic Management Plans

For all work activities on public road, and roadworks including public footpaths, and grass margins, the contractor must first obtain permission from the local authority, and provide at least ten days notification to the Garda where a positive traffic control measure will be in place.

The contractor must develop a “Traffic Management Plan” in accordance with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and the “Guidance for the Control & Management of Traffic at Roadworks”.

These provide

  • Details of the temporary traffic measures to be used at work sites on all public roads
  • Including their layout & symbols
  • The circumstances in which each sign may be used
  • The rules for positioning these signs to Warn, Inform and Direct road users in the safe negotiation through the work site
