Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS)

At O'Flynn Safety we have extensive experience and expertise in working with contractors in undertaking the role of PSCS Health, Safety Coordinator. The 'Client' must appoint in writing before construction work begins, a Project Supervisor for the Construction Stage (PSCS) who has adequate training, knowledge, experience and resources.

 

 

Duties of the PSCS

The Project Supervisor Construction Stage must:

 

  • Notify the Health, Safety Authority before construction work commences on approved form AF2, where work is likely to take more than 500 person days or 30 working days
  • Further develop, as necessary before the commencement of construction work, the Project Safety, Health Plan
  • Co-ordinate the implementation of the construction regulations by contractors
  • Organise co-operation between contractors and the provision of information
  • Co-ordinate the reporting of accidents to the Authority
  • Provide information to site safety representatives
  • Co-ordinate the checking of safe working procedures
  • Co-ordinate measures to restrict entry on to the site
  • Co-ordinate the provision and maintenance of welfare facilities
  • Ensure that craft, general construction workers and security have a FAS safe Pass Card, and a construction skills (CSCS) where required
  • Co-ordinate the appointment of site safety representative where there are 20 or more persons on site
  • Appoint a safety advisor where required by legislation based on the number of persons on site
  • Provide all necessary “Safety File” information to the PSDP
  • Monitor compliance of contractors and others and take corrective action where necessary
  • Notify the “Client” and HSA of non compliance with written directions issued
  • The PSCS may issue directions to designers or contractors
